| In 1998, GP Solutions was selected to install the GP MaTe software systemwhich is available in multiple languages, including Chineseto support the maintenance activities of the Hong Kong Police Communications Branch. This group is responsible for maintaining all communications equipment for the Hong Kong Police, including all portable and mobile devices and the land base infrastructure. The 15 repair facilities cover the whole Hong Kong region, including the new territories and marine operations. |
| Challenge |
| Unique to this customer was the need to coordinate emergency repairs to meet ISO9000 performance pledge levels of service. This required a sophisticated equipment check-in and checkout facility that can schedule and track both equipment being repaired and loaned equipment. A further complication was the need to provide calibration information to support the multiple channel and system configurations required. |
| Solution |
| GP MaTe was installed in the Hong Kong Police central offices, with wide area networking and remote access capabilities so that all workshops had immediate access to the information. Since many pieces of equipment are of the same manufacturer and model, it became feasible to track and compare performance characteristics, such as meantime-to-repair, meantime-between failures and to be able to identify repeat repairs by serial number. This helped ensure that the Hong Kong Police were obtaining optimal equipment performance per manufacturers specifications, and to identify any calibration and repair problems that were being caused by faulty replacement parts, procedures or improper staff training.
