GP MaTe was originally selected for its ability to support all requirements for maintenance management and inventory control and for its ease of use. Typically, GP MaTe can be configured, populated with data, user trained, and fully operational in less than three months. For new power plants, this time frame can be further compressed by automated conversions of equipment and inventory information from vendor data. A 60-person team operates and maintains hundreds of pieces of equipment. GE Maintenance Manager Walter Zacharewich uses GP MaTe for three basic functions at the Linden plant: maintenance management, warehouse inventory and accounting. "The product keeps track of the maintenance we do on the equipment, along with the hours and costs," Zacharewich says. "Everything needs to be documented today and GP MaTe helps us do that. It helps us meet environmental requirements and manufacturers recommendations, and documents our state inspections. It gives us the historical documentation needed to make educated and cost-effective solutions in the future." Zacharewich adds, "The system works really well. I can navigate easily and find whatever I need. We have on-site training with the core group and we train other people in the plant, but GP MaTe is Windows-driven and its really not hard to use."
